Product Design Internship @ Bridge Healthcare

MAY - JULY 2024

Product Design Internship @ Bridge Healthcare

OVERVIEW

During my third-year vacation while pursuing Bdes. from NMIMS School of Design, I took the opportunity to apply my skills in a real-world setting by joining Bridge Healthcare, as a ui/ux intern working remotely.

Bridge Healthcare is a startup incubated at IIT Madras, which provides tele-diagnostic solutions aimed at making healthcare more accessible to rural areas. Over 3 months, I contributed to their healthcare web app, refining its user experience and interface to enhance accessibility and efficiency.

Additionally, I played a key role in developing their new product- a finance community platform, building an MVP from zero to one. This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of cross-functional collaboration.

Since most of the projects are yet to be launched, I can only provide you with a glimpse of what I worked on. For end-to-end flows, you can mail me on arpitakarmakar.design@gmail.com

PROJECTS

1.Data Visualizations and UI design for tele diagnostic machine

The goal was to design an interface that instills trust in patients during remote consultations, compensating for the absence of a doctor. This involved understanding patient expectations, ensuring clarity in data visualizations, and creating a reassuring user experience

2.UI Design For Patient Mobile App

This one of the user flows of the patient app which allows patients to check their booked services and schedule new appointments.

I introduced a compact booking summary for quick access and designed a shorter patient preference form, streamlining the process for a smoother experience.

Impact:

  • Reduced form completion time

  • Increased successful appointment bookings

  • Improved user engagement with the booking summary, enhancing efficiency

3.Zero to One MVP

I played a key role in building a finance community platform from scratch.

  • Refined user profiles with enhanced editing and viewing experiences.

  • Explored AI-driven engagement features.

  • Streamlined the community structure for clarity, shifting from a complex model to a more intuitive, trader-first interaction style.

  • Designed a distinctive subscription badge and contributed to the monetization strategy.

TEAM

As it was a early stage startup the team was relatively small and I was working along with one designer, a Product manager and a UI engineer

IN A NUTSHELL

The initial two months were spent building the MVP, marking my first deep dive into designing a B2C Saas product. It was thrilling to see ideas turn into real features, from refining navigation to shaping monetization strategies.

Every small design choice felt like a puzzle piece fitting into the bigger picture sometimes frustrating, but always rewarding. Looking back, I realize how much I’ve grown as a designer.
